Hope everyone has a fun and safe holiday weekend.  No fireworks for me this year, though… I’m at the bookstore until 10 tonight.  sniff!

    =( Aw poor you. I’m going to Edgefest. So no fireworks for me either, unless I can see them from the Molson Amphitheatre, or unless they actually have fireworks during the performance.

    P.S. It was raining when I left work – hope you weren’t washed out!

    Um, I’ve never been to the Molson Amphitheatre.  I guess if it has a roof the rain thing wouldn’t matter…

    Yeah, it was raining, but we had really great seats in the 200 section, under the roof so it didn’t matter. We only got rained on, and even then it wasn’t bad, when we went to go get food. I hadn’t been either, but it was really cool. They’ve had a bunch of different bands there, and there’s three large pieces of fabric on either side showing who’s played there. There’s also two large TVs on either side, and about halfway through the show they focused them on the bands so you could see closeups on the TV. There weren’t any big problems, except this guy who didn’t care for Canadian pride and started giving both middle fingers to one of the bands who were singing about how frightening it is in America. Eventually, they escorted him out, and everyone in our section who could see him started clapping and telling him to get out. On the way out, we also got to see Ontario Place fireworks for free, which were huge and awesome. As we left, we saw all these people who were trying to freeload because they didn’t want to pay to get into Ontario Place just to see the fireworks. I had a great time. =D

    Sounds like you had fun! The Symphony of Fire is at Ontario Place, right? I’ve been to it a couple of times and it’s amazing. I ended up watching Farscape stuff on You Tube and trolling some AMV there too. Not as patriotic as I could have been, I guess. :)

    I’m not sure, I’ve never heard of The Symphony of Fire. Is it a fireworks show? It sounds like the name of one. …I’ve never seen Farscape. ^^;

    The Symphony of Fire is an international Fireworks show. Every weekend different countries would have fireworks displays set to music (so if you went it was best to bring a radio so you could tune in) and Canada would always be the last country on Canada Day.

    It sounds a little different now from when I went. It might be called Festival of Fire now.

    It was amazing, but it was years ago. It looks like it might have changed a lot after Benson and Hedges dropped it as a sponsor.

    And I can’t believe I missed the chance to plug Farscape… arg! Heh. It’s one of my favorite shows, tho I didn’t get interested in it until after the series was cancelled. There are puppets in the show, which turned me off at first, but it’s an amazing series. A lot grittier than the usual sci fi tv show. Well, except maybe the new Battlestar Galactica, but that only started a couple of years ago…

    Uh, anyway, an American scientist/astronaut is test piloting a new ship and gets sucked through a wormhole.  He ends up on a living ship named Moya that’s crewed by escaped prisoners.  As the show goes on he’s hunted by more and more bad guys for a variety of reasons, but mostly because he has wormhole knowledge in his head that everyone wants.  The relationships and friendships on the show are awesome – it’s soap opra-y, funny, sad, exciting… etc etc.

    Sounds pretty good, do they air it on TV?

    Not anymore. :( They used to run it on Space but it’s done now. I’ve been watching it by buying the dvds since they’re impossible to rent.
