Checking back in

Hello, my little neglected blog.

Hope everyone had a wonderful summer.  Mine was filled with family visits, summer movies, four seasons of The Wire  and lots and lots of rain.  It seemed a slow few months for manga for me, which is why I didn’t post anything.  I guess I was too busy watching Wall-E  (five times!) to write much.

My autumn is shaping up to be an annoying season again this year.  Instead of a pottery class and the trip to New York I was planning in November I now get to orchestrate another move.  Yes, my landlord decided they wanted my apartment for a family member, so I have to find a new place by January.  My initial extreme annoyance has been replaced by a determination to find an even better place (laundry! a bathtub! an oven that works!) and I hope to move by the end of October.  I admit one of my first thoughts after hearing the news was “Crap!  I have to repack my manga!”  sigh.

I’m in organization mode now.  All of those things I meant to do when I moved last year (it’s only been a year! sob sob…) are being done this month.  So far I’ve moved four totes of dvds into cd folders and have compacted my cd’s into three little wooden boxes.  Now I’m working on my comics, and I seem to be pretty brutal with them so far.  I’ve got two boxes to discard and I’ve only gone through three of them.  Heh.  I’m giving some away, and I might manage to sell some of them, but bottom line is the annoyance factor.  I’ll stick them out on a curb with a “Free comics!” note attached before I start spending too much time and effort getting rid of them.

Next is weeding the manga, and hopefully I’ll be over the “It’s easier to get rid of them than move them again” mood I’m in right now.  Gosh, I hope I am…

I have three appointments to look at apartments so far this week.  Wish me luck.  :)

    I’m glad you update.
    Another move? No fun.
Good luck with the apartments app.

Maybe you can donate the books you don’t want to the local library?

This sounds … I don’t know … sad (not really the word I’m looking for)… but then your collection is impressive. I hope you get over that mood …

Ah, at least with the manga I know I can take them into the comic store and trade them for books that I want. I fill in all those little holes that crop up in my collection. It’s just a pain to do.

I’ve had a box sitting in my living room from when I moved in that has been filling up with unwanted manga and I’ve yet to bring it in. sigh.
