Hello world!

Well, I’ll keep the headline WordPress gave this entry, but I just had to change the entry.  This is my first post.  Forgive me if it’s lame – I just decided today was going to be the day I finally start a blog, so I don’t have a particular topic in mind… I’m just rambling.  This is the first time I’ve ever explored the background of a WordPress site (and it would have to be my own!) or tried to write a blog entry so we’ll see how it goes….

So, they say that when you decide to start a blog you should determine what your goals, objectives, point, etc should be.  Mine?  Well, I guess I have a few:

• Reduce the amount of email confusion I go through on a semi-regular basis.  (WordPress says it’s a valid reason to start a blog, so I’m totally stealing that one.  Plus, it’s true)  Instead of the marathon emails, repeating myself and forgetting who I told what, I can finally be one of those people.  You know.  The ones who blog.  Um. 
• Keep track of stuff.  I have a pretty bad memory.  So what do I want to keep track of?  The manga I buy (no more wracking my brain trying to remember what manga I’ve bought since the last time I saw someone – now I can say, “oh, why don’t you just check my blog….”) (see?  one of those people), the things I’m reading/watching/listening to, cool sites I’ve seen, things I’ve made… I guess it depends on what I decide to post that day.
• Learn!  I’ve never had a blog before.  I’d like to learn more about how they work and the ways I can play with them.  Eventually this might actually seep into parts of my job, but I won’t hold my breath on that one.  But!  You never know, someday it might.  Plus, sometimes I just like learning new things.  I read a lot of library blogs and now that I have the internet at home and aren’t restricted to one hour blocks of time for surfing whenever I can get to the internet cafe or library, I’m seeing a lot more variety.  It’s really interesting.  Hopefully with practice my writing will improve, but I guess that’s not a major goal – I don’t really consider myself a writer.  I’m more of a consumer of other people’s work, and that’s okay with me.  Someone has to do it.

There’s other reasons, of course, but I guess that’s enough for now.  And speaking of… I’ve got to go finish watching Gothika and knit.  No, I can’t tell you what I’m knitting – it’s a present, and that would ruin the surprise.  Oh, who am I kidding.  Everyone knows what I’m knitting them for Christmas.  It’s a mitten.

What I’m listening to: Seishoujo Ryouiki, which is the opening theme song for Rozen Maiden Traumend.  I like it ’cause it’s kind of mind bending, especially after seeing the animation that goes with it.  That’s it.  I just keep replaying that one song. Sometimes I like to do that…

What I’m reading: Smoke and Shadows and Smoke and Mirrors, both by Tanya Huff.  And I’ve read them both before, which is why I can skip between them now.  Not that I meant to, but I was almost done the first one and didn’t want to bring it with me in the morning since I would have finished it and had to carry two hardcover books around with me all day…

(Damn.  I just went to Amazon to link to those two books and found out that I have to WAIT until June 2006 until the next one (Smoke and Ashes) comes out.  arg.  I hate waiting for stuff.  I’ll also virtually apologize in advance to the staff at Bakka Bookstore, ’cause you KNOW I’ll be bugging them all June until it comes out…)
